We specialize in McAllen by automatically listing all city-permitted garage sales. This ensures our listings are legitimate and up-to-date. We also offer unique features like Grouped Listings, route planning, and premium options for an enhanced experience.

You can browse listings without an account. However, to save favorite sales, use the route planning feature, or list a sale (if manual submissions are enabled in the future), you will need to sign up and log in.

We strive to update our listings as soon as new permit data is available from the City of McAllen. Sellers with Featured Listings can also provide unlimited live updates to their listings.

Currently, McAllenGarageSales.com is a web-based platform, fully responsive and accessible on all devices (desktops, tablets, and smartphones). We are considering developing a dedicated mobile app in the future.

First, browse the Listing Map and save the sales you're interested in (you'll need to be signed up and logged in). Then, head over to your Saved Listings page and click the "Get Directions" button. It will launch Google Maps with all your saved listings as a multi-stop route!

Advanced Route Planning (Garage Saler Plus):

Want even more control? Upgrade to Garage Saler Plus to unlock Grouped Listings - organize your saved sales into multiple groups (like "Saturday Morning" or "Furniture Hunt"), and get a separate optimized route for each group with stop-by-stop directions. You can drag-and-drop to reorder stops, create unlimited groups, and plan different shopping days or organize by item type!

Garage sales are treasure troves! You can find anything from furniture, clothing, electronics, toys, collectibles, home decor, tools, and much more. Sellers with Featured Listings can add tags and rich-text descriptions to highlight their items.

We list sales based on official City of McAllen permit data. Sellers can also customize their sale days. However, individual sellers manage their own operating hours, which might occasionally differ. We recommend checking for any specific details or updates provided by the seller if possible, especially for Featured Listings with unlimited live updates.

Yes! With a Garage Saler Plus subscription, you can send direct messages to sellers who have Featured Listings. This lets you ask questions about items, confirm availability, or arrange early access before the sale starts.

To message a seller, visit any Featured Listing detail page and click "Send Seller a Message." View all your conversations in My Messages.

Garage Saler Plus subscribers can view all their chat conversations by visiting My Account and clicking on "My Messages." You can also access a specific conversation by clicking the chat button on any Featured Listing detail page where you've previously messaged the seller.

Grouped Listings is a Garage Saler Plus feature that lets you organize your saved sales into custom groups (like "Saturday Morning Route" or "Furniture Sales").

To create a group:

1. Subscribe to Garage Saler Plus (all plans include 30-day free trial)
2. Save multiple listings throughout the week
3. Go to Manage Saved Listings
4. Click "Create New Group" and name it
5. Select listings to add to your group
6. Drag and drop to reorder stops for your route
7. Click "Get Directions" for automatic stop-by-stop navigation

You can create unlimited groups and organize your shopping trips any way you want!

The chat feature requires both users to have premium features. It enables:

• For Garage Saler Plus Shoppers: Send direct messages to Featured Listing sellers about their listings, ask questions before visiting, and confirm item availability
• For Featured Listing Sellers: Receive and respond to inquiries from Garage Saler Plus shoppers, build relationships with potential buyers, and answer questions in real-time

All chats are listing-specific, so conversations stay organized and relevant to the sale you're discussing.

McAllen Garage Sales automatically lists any and all garage sales permitted by the City of McAllen. To be included in our website, simply register for a garage sale permit from using the city's online permit portal. Once your permit is issued, we will automatically add it to our list!

If you have a valid permit, but are not listed, please contact us and let us know so we can fix the problem right away!

Yes, the City of McAllen requires a permit for garage sales. Our platform primarily lists sales that have obtained this permit. Please consult the City of McAllen's official website for the most current regulations and to apply for a permit.

Your permit number was provided when you registered your garage sale with the City of McAllen. You can find it in:

• The confirmation email from the city permit office
• Your physical permit paperwork (if you received a printed permit)
• The city's online permit portal (if you registered online)

If you can't locate your permit number, contact the City of McAllen permit office for assistance.

Yes! If you claim your listing (free), you can edit basic details like the title, description, tags, and cover photo anytime before, during, and after your sale.

Upgrade to a Featured Listing to unlock unlimited live updates during your sale (e.g., post photos and updates like "Just added more tools!" or "50% off everything after 1 PM!"). Featured Listings stay active for 7 days after your sale ends, giving you time for post-sale updates.

Tags are FREE keywords you can add to any claimed listing to describe the types of items you're selling (e.g., "furniture," "kids toys," "antiques"). This helps shoppers who are searching for specific items to find your sale more easily. No upgrade required! Check out our guide on top-selling items for ideas.

Adding a cover photo significantly increases views and saves! To upload:

1. Go to My Listings and select your listing
2. Expand "Title, Description, Cover Photo, Tags"
3. Click "Choose Photo"
4. Select an image from your device (max 10MB, JPG/PNG/GIF/WebP)
5. Wait for upload confirmation

Photo Tips:

• Show variety - take a wide shot with many items visible
• Use good lighting - natural daylight works best
• Organize items neatly before photographing
• Recommended size: 1200x800px or larger

Featured Listing holders can create detailed descriptions and post real-time updates:

Rich-Text Editor:

1. Go to My Listings and edit your Featured Listing
2. Use the formatting toolbar to add bold, italic, bullet lists, and headings
3. Organize your description by item categories
4. Add links if needed
5. No character limit - describe everything in detail!

Live Updates:

1. Navigate to "Live Updates" section on your listing
2. Post photos, videos, or text updates before and during your sale
3. Examples: "Just added antique china set!" or "50% off all clothing after 1 PM!"
4. Updates appear chronologically in a feed for shoppers to see

No problem! When you claim your listing (free), you can use the "Set Your Days" feature to specify exactly which days your sale will be open or closed. This overrides the default permit-based schedule and ensures shoppers know when to visit.

Yes! With a Featured Listing upgrade, Garage Saler Plus subscribers can send you direct messages with questions about your sale. You can respond directly through the chat interface.

Access your messages from the Manage Listing page by clicking "View Messages."

If a Garage Saler Plus shopper tries to message you and you don't have a Featured Listing upgrade, they won't be able to send the message. Chat is only available between Garage Saler Plus shoppers and Featured Listing sellers.

Featured Listing holders can view messages from shoppers on their Manage Listing page. Click the "View Messages" button to see all conversations related to that specific listing.

Each listing has its own message inbox, so conversations are organized by which sale shoppers are asking about.

Check your spam or junk folder first - verification emails sometimes get filtered. If you still don't see it, you can resend the verification email by clicking "Resend Verification Email" on the login page.

Make sure you entered your email address correctly when registering. If you continue having issues after checking spam and resending, please contact us for assistance.

You can reset your password by clicking the "Forgot your password?" link on the Login page. Follow the instructions sent to your email address.

To customize your profile:

1. Login to your account
2. Go to Account Management
3. Update your display name, first name, last name, or phone number
4. Click "Save Changes"

Your display name is shown publicly on any listings you own. First name, last name, and phone number remain private.

You have full control over your personal data.

To download your data:

1. Go to Account Management
2. Click "Personal Data"
3. Click "Download" to get a file with all your account information

To delete your account permanently:

1. Go to Account Management
2. Click "Personal Data"
3. Click "Delete Account" and confirm

IMPORTANT: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your saved listings, owned listings, and personal data will be permanently removed.

Once logged in, you can manage your account details, including your email address and profile information, through your Account Management page.

If you notice an error, please contact us with the details of the listing and the incorrect information. We appreciate your help in keeping our listings accurate!
